MANCHESTER UNITED vs EVERTON

2nd OCT 2021

Old Trafford.

Premier League, 2nd Oct 2021

Hello and Good day to all,

1. Matchday 7 of the Barclays Premier League starts at the Theatre of Dreams,

The Old Trafford, where the hosts Man Utd take on the in-form Everton in a typical

red vs blue scenario. The stadium is expected to be houseful and the fans are

ecstatic in watching their teams compete for the crucial 3 points.

2. Pre-Game –

(a) Man Utd cannot be more pumped than now as they host yet another

match at their home after beating Villarreal 2-1 in the Champions League with

a last-minute Cristiano Ronaldo goal earlier this week. Even with that in mind,

Ole’s defence has been reinforced by the likes of Wan-Bissaka, the English

Wing back joins the squad after he was suspended during the CL clash.

Captaincy will continue to be with Bruno as Varanes defensive partner

Maguire is still out with a calf injury.

(b) Everton are hopeful to take advantage of the vulnerable Man Utd

Defence and reflect their performance from the last game against Norwich. A

win in this game would take them to the top of the table, and that is what they

would be aiming at. Keane has been exceptional in the last couple of games

and would want to continue this form ahead. Doucoure, the talismanic

midfielder is looking to provide Gimenez with the killer pass that dissects Man

Utd defence.

3. Line-ups:

(a) United - They are using the typical 4-2-3-1 double-pivot formation.

Cavani and Martial have been given a chance this week to prove their mettle

as Ole has benched Ronaldo and Sancho. Wan-bissaka and Shaw are back

in the squad to reinforce their defence. Fred replaces Pogba after seems like

a slight knock on Pogba during the last game.

(b) Everton - The Tofees have made only one change from their last

win against Norwich with a 4-4-1-1 defensive formation. Gordon has replaced

Iwobi. Keane and Mina will aim in keeping Man Utd attack something to work

for.

4. Kick-Off: It's Everton who kicks off the game from the middle. All eyes are

on the United frontman as expectations are high on their no.21 Cavani. And it is

United who start the game with wonderful teamwork along the right-hand side. A

positive start from united as 10 mins have gone past with the best chance falling to

Anthony Martial who mistimed his jump and the header was off-target. A mistake

from Man Utd defence as the clearance falls into the legs of Gray, and a wonderful

through ball to Gimenez whose shot gets blocked, only to see that he was flagged

offside.

5. As the 15-minute mark goes by, the game slowly shifting in Everton’s favour

as they win 2 quick free-kicks in the Man Utd's defence. And it is another heading

chance for Man Utd as Cavani receives a cross right in the middle of the box and it is

Pickford who comes to the rescue with a wonderful save, 23 mins gone by, the game

remains 0-0.

6. Half an hour played at Old Trafford and both teams have had equal chances

in front of goal with Gray being the latest from Everton side whose shot got blocked

by the Spaniard David De Gea.

7. Man Utd have taken the lead here at the Old Trafford at the 42nd and it is

Anthony Martial who has smashed his way past the England Goalkeeper making it

almost impossible for any keeper to save, 1-0 United. Everton would certainly

appreciate that goal as the build-up to it was sensational, but Benitez’s men have

now gotten something to think about during the Half time team talk. HT SCORE- 1-0.

8. It is Man Utd who start the 2nd half, no changes to either side as United would

be hoping to increase their lead and Everton would like to turn this game around with

their quick counter-attacks.

9. 55 Mins into the game and Ronaldo and Sancho are brought in to bring in

fresh legs into the attacking front for United as they hope to put the game to bed

earlier in the 2nd half, an uproar from the crowd as Ronaldo comes on. Everton are

being pressed hard and the game seems to be falling out of their hands.

10. A poor corner from Bruno leads to a goal for the blue corner with a classic

example of Counter attacking football and it is Townsend that equalizes for the

visitors as he drives his shot past a standing David De Gea. 64 mins played, it is 1-1.

It is game on here at Old Trafford as Man Utd fail to keep a clean sheet yet again but

good play from Everton despite being 1-0 down.

11. Man Utd have started to look weary as time passes by. Sancho is not very

impressive along the left-hand side, missing shots and producing poor passes.

Everton get their defending prowess back in, by heavily marking Ronaldo and Sancho. Greenwood has been silent in the 2nd half.

12. But it was Everton who had believed to have taken the lead from a shot driven

in by Mina. The flag had stayed down initially, but the VAR declines the goal as he

was found to be offside, the game remains 1-1.

13. Man Utd are trying to move the ball upfield but not doing anything with it at the

dying minutes of the game.

14. Referee blows the whistle for the end of the match and it is heartbreak for

Man Utd fans as the game ends with the final score Manchester United 1 Everton

1.

Ballistiq Review

United

The game started well for Oles side, with multiple chances being created. But Ladyluck just seems to be against United as they fall short yet again in the Premier League dropping 5 points out of the last 2 games out of a possible 6. Shows poor management from Ole, but appreciate his decision and courage to change 5 players from his mid-week squad. Things just doesn’t seem to be working for United. With each game, they do not seem to be producing the desired results. OSG would be hopeful that the int’l break would feel like a break for him to reorganise his squad.

Everton

Benitez is going to be happy with his squad today as the game could have been

theirs, but they have still got work to do upfront. It was a team effort from the Everton

side with chances coming in with real meat. Townsend seems to be impressing his

boss with every game and he has a goal to show for in this one. Defensively they

have to work a little harder to ensure a clean sheet from the upcoming fixtures.

Moment of the Match

The equalising goal from Andros Townsend was the most deserving Moment of the

Match.

Man of the Match - Townsend (Everton)

Most Valuable Player - Anthony Martial (Man Utd)
